Nordic Walking - the new fitness trend with maximum health benefits
Everybody who thinks jogging is too strenuous and who cannot take that steady pounding of running on their joints but think walking burns less fat, should try the new fitness trend form Scandinavia – Nordic Walking. Nordic Walking started as a summer training exercise for cross-country skiers. There is a reason why Nordic Walking is meeting the current trend. At the same time the whole body is trained and each group of age is targeted likewise.
The combination of arm and leg movement increases fitness and boosts the heart rate and energy consumption. It works about 85% major muscle groups in the body when it is done right (long steps with changing sequences of arm and leg movement), why it is more effective by 40 % than walking without poles and the calorie consumption is 46 % higher than just walking.
Since using poles relieves the whole body by up to 30 %, Nordic Walking is also adequate for people who are overweight, have knee or back problems. The respective musculature is being activated to prevent muscle tensions in neck and back areas. Nevertheless a previous consultation to diagnose your own fitness would not be amiss. Especially people with cardiovascular diseases or vascular diseases are supposed to see a doctor before. It is recommended to learn the right techniques with an experienced trainer in a Nordic Walking course.
Positive side effects of a regular Nordic Walking Training (from 3 times 30 to 60 minutes per week) are reducing weight, a stimulated blood circulation, a strong cardiovascular system as well as more body’s defenses
In short: Nordic Walking is sport, therapy and wellnes
