Bodenmais goes for expansion as an independent tour operator

200.000 overnight stays and around 40.000 guests should be generated as an independent tour operator until 2013 / managing director Andreas Lambeck offers other holiday resorts partnerships.

Bodenmais in the Bavarian Forest is the first and only holiday resort in Germany that possesses its own independent and adequate tour operator and incoming agency since 2008. From a total of almost 870,000 overnight stays and approximately 148,000 accommodated guests in Bodenmais 2010, approximately 100,000 overnight stays were generated by its own tour operator. The products are either self arranged arrivals, and/or train or flight arrivals. They can be booked at all German travel agents using the tour operator code BTM. Around 17.000 guests booked their holiday 2010 directly with the in-house tour operator of the Bodenmais Tourismus & Marketing GmbH, 86 percent of whom visited Bodenmais for the first time, thus being an ideal method of winning new customers. And this is precisely the domain that the major holiday resort wants to further develop, due to the fact that Bodenmais didn’t become a partner of the new Bavarian Forest Incoming Agency that is based in Deggendorf. Consequently, Bodenmais now goes its own way. Until 2013 the in-house tour operator should generate around 200.000 overnight stays and 40.000 guests. For this reason, the Bodenmais Tourismus & Marketing GmbH tour operator wants to form partnerships with other holiday resorts and regions to market and sell their products on a collective basis.
Alone in the year 2010, the holiday resort has invested approximately 1.2 million Euros in end-customer advertising. The municipal market of Bodenmais alone contributed approximately 250,000 Euros. The largest part was self financed or raised through cross marketing partnerships. Principally, all nationwide selling campaigns were carried out with reference to travel agent booking facilities. ”We have shown that the linkage of travel agents with holiday destinations in Germany works well and makes economic sense, gaining more independence from past sales channels”, according to BTM managing director Andreas Lambeck.
Due to the positive results that have been achieved so far, the BTM is now offering partnerships to other boroughs who are interested in collective marketing and distribution.
All boroughs and travel agents who are interested in a partnership should send an e-mail to: andreas.lambeck@bodenmais.de
