The top holiday resort in the Bavarian Forest seeks active and sporty early birds / Everyday there’s a "holiday-bomb" (a holiday in Bodenmais) hidden in the snow.
Bodenmais, the leading holiday resort in the Bavarian Forest, has yet another new surprise in store for the guests this coming winter season. Bodenmais seeks 100 treasure hunters daily for the coming winter, who want to search for the "holiday-bombs" under the new snow with shovels in the holiday resort! Every day holiday guests have the opportunity to win a holiday in Bodenmais and other non-cash prizes that are hidden in the snow. Matthias Schweikl who runs the Bodenmaiser premium hotel Bergknappenhof, didn’t just have the idea but also donated the 100 snow shovels needed to clear the snow aside, in an effort to find those "holiday-bombs". Naturally it’s only for clearing the snow from the pavements in front of the respective accommodation as all hotel owners and landlords still remain responsible for the winter services in front of their houses and on the public pavements. "This novel winter treasure hunt is understood as winter fun and holiday enjoyment, as it can snow very heavily in Bodenmais",according to Matthias Schweikl from the Bodenmaiser premium hotel Bergknappenhof.
The holiday resort has always enjoyed an excellent international reputation as destination for cross-country skiing. Every year, both top and diverse European athletes come to the most snow reliable holiday resort in the Bavarian Forest. The Bodenmais activity center "Bretterschachten" is surrounded by about 110 kilometers of cross-country ski-tracks, spread between upper and lower elevations. It’s the highest situated cross-country ski district in the Bavarian Forest. The Silberberg is an alpine snow paradise for families and children. The snow district for alpine ski experts is just around the corner at the Großen Arber. Eight kilometers of groomed slopes and a big variety of downhill runs are just waiting to be experienced on the over 1450 meter high alpine mountain.
“Bodenmais is an ideal starting point for winter sport enthusiasts, whether cross country or alpine skiing, snowboarding or winter hikes – everyone will find just what they need, and in the resort itself there's a large variety of alternatives offered”, said tourism manager Andreas Lambeck. The winter in Bodenmais offers a wide range of possibilities to leave stress and hard work behind you, whether with winter sports or just relaxation. A guided snow-shoe hike in the morning or skiing lessons from a trained teacher, followed by a relaxing afternoon at the Silberberg indoor baths with sauna facilities or at the fitness center. Guests can look forward to enjoyable evening meals in typical Bavarian localities. Followed up with a nightly toboggan run, through snowy winter woods and rounded off with an après-ski party.
In recent years the winters in Bodenmais were long – mostly from December until the end of March – and intensive. The winter services and landlords managed to keep the streets and pavements clear of snow to a great extent, however holiday guests are very welcome to participate on the treasure hunt and in doing so help their hotel, pensions and holiday apartment landlords to clear the snow away, possibly winning a prize and arriving home from holiday top fit! Apart from the daily first prize of a holiday in Bodenmais, hotel owners will also hide small non-cash prizes. The snow shovels are available from many hotels, and all who participate on the early morning sport have the chance to win a free holiday in Bodenmais daily.
The campaign starts 27. December 2010. Holiday guests should simply ask their landlords for a shovel and then it’s off to the treasure hunt to find a "holiday-bomb"!
