The Bodenmaiser Christmas market will really be a great experience this year. After last year’s Christmas market the concept has been slightly “modified” and it will be bigger this year: The travel shopping program Sonnenklar TV will be broadcasting a live TV show from the Bodenmaiser marketplace – during the Christmas market. Furthermore there will be numerous folk music stars who will make sure that there‘ll be a real romantic and Christmas ambiance. Sandra Weiss, the winner of the Folk Music Grand Prix will be in Bodenmais for the first time. She’ll be sure to delight the visitors along with Margot Hellwig and Walter Scholz.
The market is open for three days from 10 December until 12 December and will offer a very comprehensive supporting program on all three days. A highlight on all three evenings (always at 19:00) will be the folk music concerts from the stars Margot Hellwig, Walter Scholz and Sandra Weiss. Numerous artists from the region will be providing a colorful range of entertainment (starting 13:00) before the evening concerts start.
Over 300 different handcraft booths, sales stalls and food will be offered during the entire Christmas market to make it a real event. JOSKA will also be present at the marketplace again with its own glass furnace and sales booth where the visitors can watch the glass artists at work. After the evening concerts further cabaret entertainment (e.g. flaming jugglers) is offered and the Bodenmaiser Folks Theater present a performance of ”Gustl und sein Schutzengel” at 14:00 on Sunday at the parish hall. But not forgetting our younger guests: a carriage ride is offered as part of the children’s program as well as a Christmas storybook hour at the library. And of course St. Nicholas will visit the Christmas market (Sunday 12 December).
On Saturday from 15:00 until 19:00 a live TV show from Sonnenklar TV takes place. During the show several panel discussions will take place with prominent guests from the region (inter alia Josef Kagerbauer, Michael Adam, Andreas Lambeck), with topics such as the World-Cup on the Arber, the (virgin) forest and the Skadi Loppet. And of course about holidays, especially holidays in Bodenmais. The show will be broadcast live directly from the broadcasting van at the Christmas market. Everyone can take part as admission to the Christmas market is free of charge. However be sure to come early enough when you want to participate, as the space available is limited.
In addition to the live broadcast, many fans are currently anticipating the concert with Sandra Weiß on Sunday (12 December). Sandra Weiß took part on the Folk Music Grand Prix In 1997 in Switzerland with the title “Ich suche nicht das Paradies” and won. In 1999 she was awarded the folk music crown. Margot Hellwig (Christmas enchantment) and Walter Scholz (Dreamlike trumpets) are performing for the second time already at the Bodenmaiser Christmas market.
The Bodenmaiser Christmas Express comes to Bodenmais for the second time running during the Christmas market. The Christmas Express arrives in Bodenmais on Thursday afternoon (09 December) with about 450 visitors from all over Germany. The train departs from Bremen and travels down through the Ruhr district, the Rhineland and the Frankfurt area. The train will also stop at Wurzburg and Nuremberg railway station. However the “Bodenmais-Christmas Express” isn’t just a normal train. During the whole journey, a team of entertainers with Daniel Küblböck, the Silberberg-Trio, Mayor Michael Adam und BTM-managing director Andreas Lambeck are on board to take care of the holidaymakers.
