Andreas Lambeck from the Bodenmais Tourismus & Marketing GmbH is always good for a new idea. This time after following a stay in Austria, he brought back brochures for cradle loungers and as usual he didn’t waste any time distributing ten of those wooden loungers at various places around the town. The brochures that he’d bought back with him also met the approval of the BTM team, and together with Karl Sturm who manufactures these special wooden loungers, an appointment was made in Bodenmais to get the job done properly.
Within a short period of time Karl Sturm was able to supply the ten wooden loungers, and the BTM staff couldn’t wait to find out how the guests and locals would enjoy trying out the new form of relaxation.
As the manufacturer Karl Sturm put it: “What we were always convinced about has now been confirmed: swing and rocking satisfies. The Rochester University in the state of New York has now proven that swinging and rocking is both relaxing and calming. After the trial, the participants were satisfied, better balanced and unworried. Especially enthusiastic rockers were able to reduce their pain sensibility. The ideal swing and rocking duration to increase personal satisfaction varies from five minutes up to a full length feature film on television. Above all you’re well prepared for a good night’s sleep. Even if you‘re not hectic, the cradle loungers will still develop a particularly good sense of well-being. The cradle loungers give you a wonderful feeling of security, resulting in a relaxing state of weightlessness. The gentle swing and rocking motion restores the feeling of harmony that we are yearning for. It's the harmony of body, soul and mind. Restoring our emotional balance that we are searching for in our over-stimulated and fast moving everyday life”
The cradle loungers have been well accepted, and occasionally after taking a glance outside from the tourist-info window to the front of the guildhall where two loungers have been installed, startled female voices can be heard as the loungers are gently put into motion by their friends. But the loungers can’t overturn as they are securely anchored on four skids, so there really is nothing more to do than just lean back and enjoy the experience. Rocking in a rocking chair like the good old days but much more comfortable and relaxing because you can completely lay down on the rocker without having to sit up and bend your knees. The cradle loungers are made of ash wood and are extra wide to easily accommodate two people who can enjoy the sunny autumn days at present.
In each case, two cradle loungers have been placed in front of the guildhall as already mentioned, at the spa gardens, up at the marketplace, at Trinity Place and in the sauna garden at the Silberberg indoor baths. It’s probably here that the cradle loungers will be very popular, as the wooden loungers are very much on demand in the outdoor sauna area.
Next year in the spring, another ten cradle loungers will be installed due to an agreement that has already been made with Karl Sturm. The next walk around Bodenmais will disclose that not only holiday guests are trying out the cradle loungers, but also the locals will be taking the opportunity to try them out too. Incidentally, the cradle loungers are securely anchored to the ground, to rule out the possibility of theft and vandalism.
