Opera film “Falstaff” from and with Bernd Weikl on 8th May at 19.00 in the JOSKA Glassworks.

The occasion celebrates the opening of the permanent exhibition distinguishing the life and artistic working of the chamber singer Bernd Weikl.

This year, the market town of Bodenmais distinguishes the artistic working of its honorary citizen, the renowned chamber singer Bernd Weikl, with a permanent exhibition in the cultural centre at the old Guildhall. Furthermore Bernd Weikl will be honored with a bronze bust in front of the old Guildhall.

Bernd Weikl who was born in Vienna and grew up in Bodenmais in the Bavarian Forest, belongs not only to the renowned and much demanded representatives of his voice category, but also to the versatile artist personalities of the international opera scene. He has a particularly long standing and close artistic relationship with the Vienna State Opera, in addition to many other music metropolises such as Hamburg, Munich, Berlin, Milan, London and Tokyo. Apart from his comprehensive opera and concert activities, Bernd Weikl is also esteemed as a director, lecturer and member of high-ranking panel discussions.

On Saturday 7th May, the exhibition will be officially opened by the Mayor Michael Adam and Dr. Bernd Weikl. From Monday 9th May the exhibition is open daily from Monday to Friday at 10:00 to the general public.

Furthermore, Bernd Weikl extends his invitation to a cultural highlight on Sunday the 8th May at 19.00 in the JOSKA Glassworks. The opera film “Falstaff” in which Bernd Weikl not only played the leading role but was also responsible as director of the production, will be shown for the first time in Bodenmais. Admission is free.
