The Bodenmaiser spa gardens have a new Kneipp wading basin.
After the overall refurbishing of the Bodenmaiser indoor baths, the old Kneipp wading basin in the previous spa gardens unfortunately had to be abandoned. However the Bodenmaiser Kneipp Association was firmly convinced that a spa resort must have a Kneipp wading basin. Consequently the association initialized the building of a new basin in the spa gardens, headed by the chairman Alfred Trum and his colleagues Erich Silbereisen, Rudi Straub, Karl Dietl und Alois Strohmeier.
Since the work started in June last year, lots of time, planning and hard work has been implemented. Together with 275 voluntary working hours, donations from citizens and Bodenmaiser handicraft businesses, it was the collective efforts that made it all possible. The businesses of Christian Zelzer, Werner Wölfl and BLW Engineers Office supported the construction with manpower and building material. Without the initiative of the Kneipp Association, the new construction would have cost the market town of Bodenmais more than 20.000 €. The Mayor Michael Adam is very proud of the activities of his citizens: “As your Mayor I’m pleased and thank all those donators and people who were involved with a sincere “Vergelt’s Gott”! The new basin is however not only a successful health and leisure facility, but also proof that despite low communal treasury resources, new mechanisms can be created if citizens and businesses help hand in hand.“
On Saturday the 9th of July at 16.00, the new basin will be officially inaugurated by Reverend Josef Schmaderer and Reverend Tamara Stampka. The Bodenmaiser Kneipp Association warmly invites all locals and guests to attend the celebrations. The inauguration will be accompanied with music from the Bodenmaiser duo Stefan Stern und Martin Wölfl, better known as the “Gipfelstürmer”.
