Our Johannes has made the grade!
The Bodenmaiser Johannes Weinberger won in the category “Popular Folk Music” at the preliminary qualification heats of the Alpen Grand Prix 2011.
The excitement and elation had already exceeded all bounds at the Weinberger home after the invitation to take part on the preliminary heats. But this victory which takes him to the finals of the ”Alpen Grand Prix 2011” on the 14th of October 2011 in Meran, is a real sensation.
The German preliminary heats of the Alpen Grand Prix 2011 took place last Saturday the 21st May, at the Atrium in Vilshofen.
A whole coach full of fans travelled from Bodenmais to give him a big boost. Even his teacher and some of his schoolmates took part.
Accompanied with big banners and the Wolfauslasser (traditional cowbell ringers), the Bodenmaiser fans supported “their” Johannes. As usual, Johannes Weinberger mastered his performance very professionally with virtually no stage fright at all. With his song “Die Waidlerleut“, written by composer Günther Zirngibl, Johannes convinced the six members of the expert jury and even took the first place in his category.
This music competition is known in the music branch as the par excellence of competitions for up and coming talents, and it was the stepping stone into the world of media for many television stars of today. Among others there’s Florian Fesl, Romy, Allgäu Power to mention just a few.
The five best participants in the category “Popular music” and “Popular folk music” are qualified for the finals in Meran.
