Let’s go to the 61. St. Benno festival in Bodenmais!

On 16.06.1705 an effigy of Mother Mary was brought to the catholic parish church in Bodenmais from Maisried (Böbrach), as a present from the Bavarian princes to the miners of Bodenmais. It is said that on this day a weather miracle occurred, so the Bodenmaiser celebrate this occurrence every year on Benno day (16.06.) with a big local festival. A wide variety of entertainment is offered in the festival marquee, where locals and guests get together. This year a wide range of musical entertainment is offered. From the party-band “Trixi und die Partylöwen“ (Friday, 18.06.), the Rißbachtaler brass band (Saturday, 19.06.), ”Die Gipfelstürmer” (Sunday, 20.06. 15.00), the Miners Association band (Sunday, 20.06. 19.00), Thomas Grotz (Monday afternoon, 21.06.) and with the die Bodenmaiser brass band (Monday, 21.06. 18.00) there really is something offered for everyone and all age groups.
But of course, a festival wouldn’t be a festival without numerous funfair rides, booths and attractions. The attractions offered this year, remain of course the same as every year during the Benno festival.

Dear Bodenmaiser,
dear visitors from near and far,

On Thursday 17. June until Monday 21. June 2010, the Bodenmaiser celebrate together with their guests the renowned St. Benno festival. The popular festival already takes place this year for the sixty first time.

The St. Benno festival also takes place 2010 on Thurday, the 17. June at 17:30 beginning with a stand concert from the Miners Association band on the Bodenmaiser market place. Afterwards, the festival committee and association delegates march down the festival grounds at the Jahnstraße. Then the traditional festival beer keg tapping takes place, followed by the official opening of the St. Benno festival at 18:00.

Every year as usual, the locals and visitors meet and spend a couple enjoyable hours together here. With a good diverse festival program along with good smooth beer from the Regener Falter brewery and tasty food specialties, many enjoyable hours are guaranteed as always.
