On New Year’s Day, the waiting finally came to an end: The Mayor of Bodenmais Michael Adam came under the hammer. Punctually at 00.30hrs, the name of the winner (Hannelore Auweiler from Cologne) was drawn, closely followed by 2500 party guests during the Bodenmais New Year’s Day celebrations. She can now look forward to a visit from Adam this year, accompanied by a brass band! A specific date will be arranged with the winner in due time. Last year guests could voluntary take part on the Bodenmais campaign “Friends and sponsors“, which also made them eligible for the raffle to win the Mayor as first prize.

It’s not gone unnoticed that the holiday resort at the foot of the Silberberg, has uncompromisingly introduced new touristic strategies and ideas. Bodenmais was one of the most successful and fast expanding holiday resorts in Germany 2008. And now the resort has realized yet another witty idea. The campaign was indeed so successful, that they’ve decided to repeat it again this year.

“It really was unbelievable how many people took part, and have helped us so much. We are very thankful indeed and would gladly like to carry on with the campaign”, said Michael Adam. As usual, a fee of five Euros will be raised per year for the badge. The guests can acquire the badge in about 500 lodgings when checking in. The fee of five Euros will be passed on to the municipal market of Bodenmais. But now I’m looking forward to visiting Cologne, it’s a great city and I hope that I can make the day a treat for the winner”, declared the 25 year old Mayor.

In participating, holidaymakers support the further development of their holiday resort, particularly the events and comprehensive cultural program. The voluntary sponsor contribution is solely for the community e.g. the Christmas market and seasonal decorations, the associations and the retailer events.
