Original Wolga Cossack choir appearing in Bodenmais on Sunday 02.10.

On Sunday the 2nd October at 20.00, you can experience the original Wolga Cossack choir in the Catholic parish church Mariä Himmelfahrt. The powerful voices from Russia and the Ukraine have been repeatedly performing in Bodenmais.

Refugees, who managed to flee during the Russian revolution from 1917, established the first exile Cossack choir in 1924. One of these choirs is the original Wolga Cossack choir that has been touring all over the world since 1933, from which the present-day ensemble is founded.

Alexander Petrow who has been conducting the choir since 1978, will also lead you through the program in German. All members of the ensemble have undergone classical music and vocal training and have many years of stage experience in numerous concert halls in Europe and America.

Powerful voices will take you back to the Russia of bygone days, with old Russian folk songs full of melancholy or chants from the Orthodox Church. Five members of the choir also masterly play the typical instruments of the Balalaika, Dombra and Bajan. The repertoire includes pieces in both the German and Russian language. Experience an insight into the heart of the “Russian soul“

Tickets are available from the Tourist Information at the new Guildhall, or from the Cultural Center at the “Altes Rathaus”. Price: advance sales 14.00 €, box office 15.00 €
