Thousands of Sylt Frisians wanted to meet Bodenmais

More Sylt Frisians than ever before came to the 4th Tinnum Street Festival, to see the presentation of the Bodenmaiser delegation and to inform themselves about Bodenmais.
Once again it really was unbelievable as thousands of people from Sylt came to visit the street festival in the course of the day, who were particularly delighted with the performance of the 14 year old Johannes Weinberger with his Steyrian and the ten “Klousterer Buam”with the two accordion players Irina and Anita.
The event was announced in all daily newspapers on Sylt with special editions, and the Bodenmaiser visit was also advertised on billboards and with flyers.
As usual Andreas Diefenbach and his team from Bodenmais were responsible for the catering of tasty Bavarian delicacies like Leberkäs (a meat loaf) and sausage meat salads, and especially the good Bavarian beer was very much appreciated by the Sylt Frisians.
The advertising material from Bodenmais and the East Bavarian Tourism Federation for the Bavarian Forest was distributed by Karl-Heinz Hartl, André Sobozcenski and Katharina Hartl from the Bodenmais Tourismus and Marketing GmbH, and aroused great interest amongst the visitors.
There was no sign of the proverbial coolness of the Northern Lights on arrival in Sylt but a rather warm and cordial welcome met the Bavarian guests after the long bus journey which had started at 06:00 on Friday morning. The delegation travelled with the Wenzl travel agents, in order to continue the partnership with Sylt which began three years ago. There was a slight delay before departure as the “Klousterer Buam” noticed that the tree trunk for “wood chopping” was too long and didn’t fit on the bus. Without further ado the tree was cut to size on the car park in front of the guildhall in Bodenmais and then stowed away with the rest of the luggage.
After a 13 hour journey including the crossing from Niebüll to Tinnum on the Hindenburg Dyke with the car train that particularly interested the Bavarian guests, they were picked up by Uwe Dau the chairman of the local advisory council who took them to his house. The allocation of the lodgings followed and this time everybody was staying in very comfortable private holiday flats that were provided by the Tinnum community absolutely free of charge. Afterwards there was a barbecue at the yacht club.
There, the managing director of the Bodenmais Tourismus und Marketing GmbH, Andreas Lambeck, his deputy Katharina Hartl and the delegation from the Bavarian Forest were cordially welcomed by the local advisory council chairman Uwe Dau, the deputy citizen spokesman Hannelore Strauch, the citizen spokesman Manfred Uekermann, Jutta Hinz from the Sylt tourism and Gudrun and Wolfgang Buck.
The Mayoress from Westerland, Petra Reiber also welcomed the guests from the Bavarian Forest personally and signified it as a “lived partnership” that the Tinnumer and the Bodenmaiser shared. It was very obvious to see that the Mayoress and her husband enjoyed the evening together. Andreas Lambeck thanked the Sylter for the renewed invitation and for the friendship of the Northern Lights. He then presented Mayoress Reiber and the Tinnumer delegation delicacies from the Bavarian Forest: a large piece of smoked ham and a noble brandy together with a large bread board with the new Bodenmaiser logo.
As Johannes Weinberger put on his accordion after dinner and played and sang, Mayoress Reiber spontaneously got herself two spoons and accompanied him. Actually, Johannes Weinberger was travelling with his grandparents Therese and Erich Begerl, and he was not only there in the evening but was also the favorite of the Sylter during the street festival. And of course he captured the hearts of the Sylter with his music. He was better known to some people due to the visit two years ago and others knew him after spending their holidays in Bodenmais.
