For 7 centuries glass from Bodenmais
The health and winter sports resort Bodenmais is located in the submontane region of the Arber.
Glass has been produced in the Bavarian Forest for ages. IAs early as in the 15th century glittering glasses, shiny goblets and brilliant pearls have been produced in the woody mountains beneath the Silberberg since then. Generations of gaffer families worked in the glass production and glass processing. On the main road one sales exhibition is following the other, so that nothing is left to be desired.

JOSKA KristallWith the"Waldglashuette"(glass factory) in town and particularly the great Crystal Experience on the outskirts of Bodenmais, Joska Kristall connects to our historic roots of producing and processing glass in the Bavarian Forest. In the biggest company of Bodenmais you can watch the gaffers blowing glass or watch the lamp gaffers, glass artists, polisher and engravers in the demonstration factory. Everyone who feels like trying to blow a glass ball can do that and take it home. The Crystal Experience World attracts almost one million visitors a year. In the exhibition "For Winners - Crystal trophies for the World's best" you can look at some replica of the most famous awards and cups produced by JOSKA Kristall as world market leader in producing glass trophies.
A gaffer's live and his families' was hard and filled with destitution.
"It's a never ending nightmare to produce glass!" is a gaffer's quote which is passed on until today. With fascinating engergy, overwhelming effort and astonishing creativity the Bavarian Forest became a European center of glass manufacturing.
