Today we received some very good news from Cologne: Fairtrade Deutschland e.V. will officially recognize the market town of Bodenmais as a Fairtrade Town!
This means we will join the ranks of 2,000 Fairtrade Towns worldwide, including London, Rome, Brussels, and San Francisco.
Mayor Michael Adam would like to thank the Fairtrade action group led by Erika Vogl and Silvia Adam, who were responsible for creating the local conditions and preparing the application documents. They were supported in this by Teresa Raith, sustainability coordinator for the district of Regen.
Overall, the task was to acquire various local action partners, launch various campaigns, and enable and ensure the purchase of fair trade products in the town. A Fairtrade association was founded specifically for this purpose, and the Fairtrade shop was incorporated into the Hoamatladerl Bomoas on the market square.
We are delighted about the good news from Cologne – there will be an official ceremony to mark the award in the near future.
